Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of being 3,473 Miles from Upton Park and West Ham United (Aug 2011 - May 2016)
a 'wistful' offering Mr P. Trying to work out the references.. Oscar Wilde-aubrey Beardsley...In any case not a bad result. Could have won it, could have lost it. the fact that it wasn't a loss is a win even though it should never have been lost in the first place, which it wasn't.....ummm....All's well basically. How was yossi? winning friends?
Filthy, first off the connection really is Stephen Fry, he's on the Norwich City Board. Back to the match, I missed this one due to work except for the last ten minutes of the first half by text. We seemed lucky to go in at half time level, although I later learned we had missed a couple of sitters in the first 15 minutes. By all accounts Carlton, Vaz and Van (Maiga) were all below par and Yossi only came on for a handful of minutes at the end. An away point and a clean sheet is not to be sneered at I know, but I am expecting more from the the boys up front.
I'm fine with this. Obviously 3 pts would have been nice, but a draw is fine, we do seem to be good at it on the road.Seems to have been anyone's game so it's even a fair result. So far, and admittedly it's a long way from the end, I'm chuffed we're in the top 10.Gotta be good for the boys, and aside from the one I'm sure Alf's blood pressure is doing well
Hopefully with every one back from foreign parts and as Smitty says with Alf's blood pressure not off the chart, they can work up a decent plan to have 3 points off Martin O'Neill's Makems. Personally I'd like to see Yossi get a start.
OKay no Tomka, no Carroll, but we DO have is a F-ing generationally deep seated team that inspires only True artists and intellects. Only true poets and lovers. Just look at these Saitch images! Grabbing clouds by the balls! That's what I say!!
Que? well, sex, death and a well hung back four. Keats ode to autumn and a little bit of this and a little bit of that o-oooo! I think CBTG's got the right dreams!I didn't know That Delia Smith had the aptly named Mr Fry on the board up at carrow rd. See what you can learn from this blog. There are options (when fit) up front, so they all have to perform when they're on. I'm with you on Benayoun- let him play....
I think I follow you CBTG....sort of ?
Filthy, I reckon Deli didn't have to dig too deep to get Fry on board, he always struck me as someone who was no stranger to the tuck shop.
Absolutely...I heard a little snippet of an interview with him on local (canadian) radio last week. Very frankly and entertainingly talking about his childhood in a very strict, almost Victorian, household( very privileged of course) then going on the lam, stealing credit cards and being incarcerated. Quite likeable really! Just like his team.Everything to play for, better than expected start and a squad that now seems to have options. There are weak links but so far they're under the surface.
Filthy, lets hope they're not "under the surface" of Andy Carroll's hamstring.
Okay, Maybe I got a bit carried away... But Just look at this work on this site! Andy, I assume that this work is yours? Or is there a group of artists? What I mean/meant is : Oscar Wilde and ALL the brilliant art work-- plus a team that through the decades had an acknowledged sense of artistry in their play (If not always visible these days) I was /am trying to get us "back to where we started from". Be poetrt in motion , West Ham!
A win in the next two games would keep us on track. If we dont look like anything is going on up front I say give Yossi the second half
Well your most kind CBTG. I must confess that your comments on "grabbing the clouds" etc, sent me down the wrong path. I also must plead guilty, solo, to all the artwork. I'm not sure my stuff matches up to the artistry The Hammers have displayed over the years, and will I'm certain display again (hopefully on Saturday). Poetry in motion=West Ham, I like it !
the trainer girl is right. Poetry and football can co-exist and I think Yossi's the one to provide it.Keep 'em coming mr P. I won't call you Oscar wilde, but you do have a touch of the artist in you.!
Filthy, Don't Hurt 'Em and Yours Truly, looks like Yossi has a Posse (OUCH !), or should I type Possi ?
