Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of being 3,473 Miles from Upton Park and West Ham United (Aug 2011 - May 2016)
Sam Castro and Che Carrol?ran 'em close, could've been a draw....no need for revolution.
The last three have been particularly fine, mate. You're in a rich vein of form - not unlike 'our' Andy! Wonder if Carroll will be as accomodating as Carlos is to us when the Geordie lad faces his old side this Saturday?
Filthy, I like to think of Che as someone who came over to our side when Carlos got let off his leash and like Tevez' heart has remained with us ever since. As for Fidel word is he thinks our full name is "The Hammers and Sickles" and I say leave the old boy alone - he's happy !
You're not stingy with the kind words Billy - much obliged. You'd think by now Henry Mancini would have twigged that Carlos just isn't going to score against us - how long does it take ? Charlie Endell sussed it in the end, but I guess rivalries dictate that Mancini "has to learn for himself" ? I'm assuming that Alf has had AC and Nobby on the carpet about this one and any tip of the flat cap to the North East is strictly restricted to the choice of post match Brown Ale !
Minor headline in Guardian football today: "West Ham sign Rat on free transfer"Well...sounds like a Sunday Sport headline, and i'm only glad it was a Free transfer.I know nothing about the Romanian Rat. Anyone?
It took me a while to figure out you meant The Wanstead & Woodford Guardian Filthy . Took a look on KUMB and Razvan Rat is our Romanian roadent ! A pushing 32 year old left back, who obviously comes with experience. I'd like to think that Alf knows what to look for in a defender, but somehow we signed Poltergeist didn't we ?
OiOi saveloy.. Love your art Andy....Good luck mate..Fat Andy E.15
Thanks for the big up Sliperry One, can you even get a saveloy at Westfields ?
Aint had a decent saveloy since the early 70's..Costas chip shop Stratford High st. opposite "The road of a thousand smells" (Carpenters rd)..he done a lovely steamed saveloy and pease pudding on a cardboard tray...Happy days And....

Can't date my last decent sav Slippery, but King Chip (not actual name, but my title) down the Roman Road used to serve them well wicked !
Good luck And...if Roman Rd was your old stomping ground, then i grew up just over the border to you in sunny St.Ratford.. Abbey Lane,2 mins over Jack the Hats last resting place(supposedly) Bow Flyover
Came in late to this one, nothing much to add exceptmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! Savs Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!! Pease pud."but somehow we signed Poltergeist didn't we ?"Scarier than the real thing that guy, wonder if we could leave him in the locker room next away game and pretend he isn't ours.
It might work Smitty, but can you imagine the palaver come pay day ? "They were paying you, how much ?????" As for the pease pudding - puts 'airs on your chest mate !
Great art work again, Mr. Chief Winder-Upper/Fromage de Pompadour!
Your going back a ways there Club Penguins, but guilty as charged !
May be they could take him with them and do the same. Till someone keeps him, or not.The hair on my chest is fine, it doesn't need any company, or at least not if that's the only way yo do it.
Some players are harder to get rid of than others and poltergeist might not be an easy trade in Smitty. remember Christian Dially ? His contract seemed never ending, he'd be at all sorts of clubs only to be sent back to us. There I'd be thinking he's long gone , when lo and behold his name would be mentioned and ours along with it !
Andy link here for some great pics if you want mate... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2297533/West-Ham-say-goodbye-Upton-Park-Olympic-Stadium.html
poltergeist might not be an easy trade in (Sigh) I know.
Some crackin' snaps Slippery, love that mega sized Prince of Wales check coat on Bobby Moore !
Yeah, lovely shots all. I think we need a recount on #17 down the list though
Blinding view from the top of the flats..Bobby loved all the posing business..ive got a few of him doing the old modelling business.in the early 70's.i remember as a kid my dad (r.i.p) used to play football for Fords at their ground in Rush Green,as me dad was driving back home one sunday after a game some car cut me dad up on a roundabout,me dad starting effing & blinding & pulled alongside the other car to give the geezer a mouthful of abuse..but instead he started going "good luck mate and was all happy cos it was Bobby Moore driving... Andy do you remember Bobby Moores sportshop opposite the ground..?
Whenever I hear/read of the #17 Smitty, I rewind immediately to The Piglets' immortal " Johnny Reggae" - all together now: "He's a real tasty geezer" ! I'll get me abacus out and took a look...
It's Clyde Best that's missing Smitty ! For those that wouldn't know Clyde was a big West Indian striker from Bermuda, he would not have looked out of place doing the heavy lifting for The Prince Buster Sound System. I saw him play many a time in the late 60's and early 70's and he went on to become something like the patron saint of The Portland Timberwolves, but is sadly no longer with us in the physical sense.
Thanks as usual, Mr P.I'm sitting here counting and wondering, glad yer abacus marbles (and mine) are still there.
like you Andy i was blessed with seeing west ham legends play in the flesh...and big Clyde Best will always be a legend...."Gwon clyde me son"
Back to Bobby Moore's shop slippery, I'm pretty sure I got a "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" t-shirt there when I was a nipper (blue shirt claret printing). I'm thinking it's still a shop - is it that wax block print African ladies dress fabric shop , or a fags'n'tizer joint ?
ha...Andy it now sells second hand washing machines ,cookers ,etc...http://www.westhamonline.net/forum_flat.php?6167964||1||link is westhamonline forum ..i started a thread last year posting west ham pics old and older link is to that thread for some great pics of whu's history i posted...including one of mr moores shop ..and one of the school playground st edwards primary school, where matchdays players parked their cars, and bobbys shop in background
I know the one slippery. I wonder if the shop keeper knows, or cares ? Will check out the pics later tonight.
I strongly recommend a butchers at Slippery's selection at westhamonline forum. Crank up the tunes, grab a beverage of choice and have a gander ! Check out the fans and all them home made banners at the Wembley 1975 FA CUp Final - strictly top shelf !
