Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of being 3,473 Miles from Upton Park and West Ham United (Aug 2011 - May 2016)
Yeah! About sums it up. Don't it feel great.Everybody mentioned in dispatches. New guys looking good.Footie on the floor an everything. You could write a book.We were here last year but it feels different. Even if it goes pear shaped again it won't be for the want of trying, and there might be some sort of variation of the theme of Plan A repeatedly. I feel good.
Glorious! The shock on Wenger's face! I think they thought they'd won it before kick off. And Reece Oxford! Europe forgotten.
Watched on stream in Somerset and was very impressed. I don't think it was until about the 92nd minute I felt that we were going to pull it off. Let's face it, they've got the talent to score a couple of goals and we've got the history to let it slip through our fingers. But as opening days go I can't remember a better one and with a 16 year old in the team !
You're right about "Europe forgotten" Filthy, as soon as Coyote's header hit the back of the net ! Will fess up to being one of those who favored a win over Astra to our chances of beating The Gooners, Super Slav has put me in my place and I'm happy to be there.Spent Sunday afternoon pimping my "75 Cup Final chevron shirt at The Porlock County Fair and I must have looked at the back page of every Monday paper in Tescos !
I'm not sure it's forgotten, for the traveling faithful I think they were looking forward to a whiz around the backstreets of Europe. For us armchair warriors maybe no so much BUT it went a long long way.Burke did great and it must be a memory for him that will last a lifetime, but all 3 debutantes barely put a foot wrong.
Glad to hear you packed with the expectation of being able to strut around the West country in your finest!
Being as our trip to The Emirates is all we have to go by, I am for now thinking the first team is a very different affair to the Euro-team, even young Oxford being considered a cut above it. Super Slav appears to have a weekly page in the Standard (now a giveaway) and this week he made no bones about Amalfi no longer being a first team player - a punishment for a meeting no show or a long term strategy I have no idea.
I packed the shirt in the hope that match might be on in one of the two Porlock boozers Filthy with football on the box potential, but they both were catering for the Sunday lunchtime hiking trade. Leaving The Tower yesterday (of London not Hamlets) me and #2 son passed three separate Hammers' shirts - a sign for Leicester ? I certainly hope so - COME ON YOU IRONS !
Is that a Standard page instead of or as well as the FF?ES website never wants to come up on my computer.
FF Smitty ? It was more like a page and a half spread, within the bottom quarter missing (pages 74 & 75). I don't think I'm 21st Century enough to handle The Standard online !
FF = F8t F88k - BFS = The man of the past.He "used" to have a friday column of drivel / excuses. I just wondered if it was still there.I could, but I can't, I do prefer the printed version but there ain't many in NY.
No sign of Tupper on this visit as of yet Smitty, I reckon he's on the Costa Brava with The Mrs. I expect him to start showing his mug just before Xmas, as the new manager "panic" kicks off. Super Slav in The Standard appears to be a Thursday "ting" !
Ah well, he seems to have stated his case somewhat herehttp://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ungrateful-west-ham-slammed-sam-6246879and I heard somewhere he was on the box with a comment or two.Perhaps he's just making a few bob here and there while he's looking for a new team to fix.Anyway Leicester in a hour or so , we should take em. Boleyn will be rockin COYI!!!!!!
